Now, I would like to tell you about naming traditions in the worlds. But, I just tell you about Indonesia and China. Indonesia is my country ๐Ÿ’—J. Are you curious guys? So check it out ๐Ÿ˜‰..

Naming Traditions


Naming traditions every country in the world is different and various, but it’s still same. Because, behind of the names is contain of their hoping and prayer from their parents. 


First, I will explain about indonesian’s naming traditions. How is it? Yoooo, let’s see!

INDONESIA

      We know that, Indonesia has many cultures. Every tribe in Indonesia has a different culture. So, Indonesia has many various about giving a name in every tribe, such as Bali, Batak, Ambon, Java, and others. One of that is Batak, from North Sumatra. Batak has four tribes, those are batak karo, batak toba, batak mandailing and batak simalungan. people from Batak have different way for giving a names, their different names refers the area where they live.

       a.     Batak Karo :
   Their surnames such as, Ginting, Sembiring, Tarigan, and others.
       b.     Batak Toba :
        Their surnames such as, Harahap, Harianja, Hutabarat, Hutabalian, and others.
       c.      Batak Mandailing :
   Their surnames such asLintangLubisNasutionSiregarSimbolon, and others.
       d.     Batak Simalungan :
    Their surnames such as, Damanik, Purba, Saragih,and others.

๐ŸŒŸIf there is people from Batak married, they will give their surname for their children. They give father’s surname in their children’s names.

    Ex : If a male from Batak married with female from Java. Their children will be named “Daril Abdi Pratama Hutabarat”.
§                   ➤  Hutabarat is surname from his father’s family

๐ŸŒŸIf a male and female from Batak married, his surname will given for his wife and his children. So, his wife will make two surnames, it’s from his father and his husband.

    Ex :  Given a name ( husband’s surname) (father’s surname)

       Alvaro Maldini Harahap  (x) Anna Uli Siregar  ⏩  Anna Uli Harahap Siregar
       Their children will be named “Andrea Jogi Harahap”.

After we talked about Indonesia, then we will talk about China’s naming traditions. Let’s see!  

CHINA  
  

     China is part of Asia. China is almost like an Indonesia. China has many various about giving a name. There are two ways of give a name. first, surnames from their country is consist of 1-5 hanzi’s characters. Then, given a name is consist of 1-3 hanzi’s characters. Chinese will give their surnames in front of their children’s names. Their surnames are from their father’s names.


Example :

        1.     There are two syllables : "Huang Guan"
        ➽  Huang is surname , Guan is given a name

        2.     There are three syllables : "Jiang Jie Shi"
        ➽  Jiang is surname
     
๐ŸŒŸ If they married :
      Zhang Nan (male) x Liu Tao (female), their children will be named “ Zhang Xie


These are some of popular surnames in China !
